First Warmoth Build! - FINISHED!!

DAMN!! That is gorgeous!! You really came through all those problems with a GEM!! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

Wow  :icon_biggrin: Do you know how good it feels to be getting compliments from all the big names :toothy10:
Thanks so much guys, it means a lot. Thanks for the photobucket tip Updown, and it's nice to see someone else from Australia  :occasion14: Oh and I apologise, it was Tonar and JacktheHack who replied to my staining question.

Started french polishing the front yesterday, Ill attach more pics as it comes together.
Cheers guys

I'll pile on, too!  These guys are so helpful, it's what makes this forum great.
Well done on the tele, you've obviously got a good eye for design as well as learned some cool techniques for staining.
Yes, you should enter in Guitar of the Month.
You might not win, but you'll be in awesome company, and someone might just vote for your guitar.  Y'know how good THAT feels?  :glasses10:

Wow, it looks great, man. How did you rectify the blotches on the binding? Use a razor?
MULLY

Hey, thanks tylereot, I know I have a hell of a lot of competition, but I'll enter it (not sure how long it's gonna take to finish now though, considering school's about to start).
And regarding the binding, I couldn't use a razor cos the stain had penetrated the wood, so I carefully sanded it out with a small oscillating sander. My next build might have to be with plastic binding, now that I know how much work went into this one. Scraping with a razor I'm almost certain would be much easier.

By the way, I've french polished the top and I now need to sand it absolutely flat for the final application of shellac - to get the mirror finish - can anyone advise me on what grit sandpaper to use?

Just a quick update - haven't done a whole lot since college started, but I've almost finished french polishing and I got my hands on the scratch plate I've been looking for, here's a couple of pics of the whole thing at the moment.
Nearly assembly time!  :blob7:

No progress has been made to the quilt tele since my last post, just because the parts are still in LA. I didn't particularly want to spend $70 on express shipping just to get a couple of parts, so in the mean time I have just finished building my very first guitar. My girlfriend bought me a '72 Deluxe tele kit for Christmas and I have been slowly putting it together. Here's a couple of pics, I'm pretty happy with it and it sounds fantastic. It's got a pair of Epiphone LP humbuckers - lot of crunch  :headbang1:

One little side note - as you may have noticed in the photos above, I hadn't put the scratchplate screws in. So after I took the photos I went to put the remaining screws in and the worst thing that could possibly have happened, happened. The screwdriver slipped and gouged a whoppin great scratch down the middle of the guitar
I can fill it with shellac, but the discolouration in the finish is still gonna be there.

Don't worry we have ALL done something silly at times ....... well I have.
Did ya show the girlfriend what ya did  ?  :icon_biggrin:

:icon_scratch:  don't need to use that much force.

That Deluxe looks great! You know, some people would pay extra for a scratch like that  :icon_biggrin: still looks awesome!

Yeah well, relicing it did come to mind during the build.
It's already halfway there now  :laughing7: Maybe it can be my "rough" guitar

Yay!  :toothy12: I just received all my hardware - looks fantastic on the body. But alas, I did not order pickups or pots with all the hardware because at the time I hadn't the faintest about electronics, however, since building and wiring up the deluxe I now know what to get - ordering them now  :toothy10:

I initially intended on getting some tone rider pickups, but I've decided to go with a pair of seymour duncans. Another two weeks shipping...
