Hello, everybody.
I have an alder strat body with a flame maple top. It's been stained with minwax oil-based stain. I'm going to put a black sunburst on it, then a nice thick, factory-style clear-coat.
The plan right now is to spray the sunburst with an airbrush, then apply sanding sealer, and finally the clear-coat. The sanding sealer and the clear-coat are colortone from StewMac.
Is there anything that I might be missing? Can I use a water-based paint for the burst, or should I use oil-based? Are any of these "ingredients" incompatible?
Thanks for your help.
