Finished dying Start body

Maybe he's trying to guard the finish from the pick. Y'know... a "pickguard"  :laughing7:

I know what you're saying, though. It's like putting a plastic cover over a nice piece of furniture. Turns it into a tacky piece of furniture.

Not that pickguards are tacky, but he is covering up a nice piece of work. Why protect the appearance of something you can't see?

That's what I am wondering.

I just think that it looks sharp with the pickguard.

oh - and I don't see any otaku stuff going on in those pics  :dontknow:  :occasion14:

Haha Cagey, that's exactly it!  Gotta guard my new sweet thang from those evil picks!  Duuhhhhh!  :toothy12:  Okay.  The reason for the pickguard is... *drum roll*...

A Strat without a pickguard is not a Strat! :glasses10:

As stated in my first post: "Going to add pickguard even though its rear routed."  I got this body because it was on sale in the Showcase and I originally wanted to put a tinted transparent acrylic pickguard but decided on a 3-ply because I came to terms that it was my fave.  I think the 3-ply looks classy.  But even if I wanted to go with the transparent pickguard, apparently the knob routes are in a different position on a rear-route so that'd look way tacky to see 3-holes thru the transparent pickguard.

Lastly, yes, the flame maple is beautiful but the grain gets weaker in the covered areas... it begins to overwhelmingly become "vertical grain" where the pickguard is covering.  You can actually see what I'm talking about in the original pics.  I prefer perfect symmetry or unapologetic asymmetry... nothing in the middle  :laughing7:

EDIT: mis-read something lol

Haha thanks man!

I covered it for the most part.  But there's a dakimakura pillow behind the guitar haha.  Besides that, small reminiscence of anime wall scrolls appear at the top of the frame.
