Fender's NAMM Teles

Yeah, that was the "Grabber". Only made 'em a couple years in the mid '70s. They reissued them in a strictly limited edition run of 350 units back in early 2009.

Still has the sliding pickup. You can read more about them here.

That's the one. Had a buddy back in the '70s who owned one of those things. Sounded terrible. Weighed about 4,310 lbs. Didn't tune well, or stay in tune. Playability was passable at best. Looked really cool, though <grin>

Try listening to Black Flag and then tell us that it's terrible.  :icon_scratch:

It's been a while, but the last time I heard Black Flag it was just a hissing sort of sound...

Well, I didn't figure he was talking about the band "Black Flag", since they wouldn't know what tone was if it jumped up and bit 'em on their greasy asses.

I listened to Black Flag. Cool, but not a benchmark for great sound.

Some of you boys have a disturbing predilection for guitar that has great "tone", but is boring as hell and a touch shy of heart, soul, and testicles. Each to their own, but to put up some of the pap that gets posted here, but diss Black Flag is frankly deranged chaps.

I gotta agree. black flag may not be my thing.

But sometimes Music needs to be about Spirit and energy, instead of technique and tone.

Exactly my thoughts Agwan, I knew you were good people.

That may be so, but since the post that instigated the use of Black Flag as a reference was talking about tone, it would seem that's the direction the discussion should go. That's assuming it needed that change in direction in the first place. The thread is actually about Fender's NAMM Teles. I was just following up a comment about the acrylic Tele, which brought up Dan Armstrong's pioneer work with that material for guitars.

Apples vs. oranges.

And the Minutemen kicked both HD and BF's butts.

Punk, but with musicians.

And junkies, which obviously makes everything better! And don't get bent out of shape cagey, this is the net,
Not real life chap :) p.s 59 times the pain is a good song, but none of those bands mentioned are a patch on black flag IMO
