Favorite neck woods?

My only concern with roasted wood is that I’ve heard it can become brittle. But I’ve never actually tried it. Maybe I should, especially with all the time and $ saved by skipping the finishing dept.
I've smacked three people in the head so far, and mine is holding up great. I second that it feels great to play on. But seriously, I have two Jags with the roasted maple/ebony, and they've held up great to heavy gigging over the last several years.

Here is a closeup of the neck/fretboard of a Warmoth Tele build (that I no longer have, sadly). The neck is Goncalo Alves and the fretboard is Wenge. I think this is a killer combination:

I'm thinking of a wenge neck and fretboard. I have a wenge neck with an ebony fretboard, and it feels awesome to play on. Nice and slick. I was thinking a wenge fretboard would play nice too, and look really cool being all wenge attached to a swamp ash Jaguar.
