My neck and body showed up today.  I didn't order anything else as I wasn't sure what color hardware I was going to go with.  I think now that I see it in person it's screaming chrome hardware.  I still feel a pickguard is possible as in my mind thats how I pictured this build and I can't seem to move away from that.  I also don't like the gap between the neck and body without it.  The neck was a nice surprise.  Better than the showcase pics.  The body flame doesn't have as much movement as I'm used to, but considering it's such a thin laminate it's not bad.  The figuring near the bridge is pretty flat and almost photo flame  :-\.  Overall, I'm very happy.  Should look killer when it's all one piece.  :cool01:

:headbang: that is KILLER!! no pickguard! go for some rosewood or similar pickup rings, (even black plastic pickup rings before a pickguard!) it would be a crime to cover up that gorgeous top!

also, I dunno why you're complaining about that laminate, it's GORGEOUS!  :headbang:

Indeed. If you're that dissatisfied with it, one of us would gladly take it off your hands  :toothy11:

Those are some really sharp parts!

I think if it was me, I'd go without the pickguard to start. Use pickup rings. That's a poly finish, so it'll take quite a bit of abuse. But, eventually it'll start to show wear at and that point you can decide whether to refinish it or put a pickguard on it. All you'd loose is a couple pickup rings, and those are cheap.

Incidentally, I think gold hardware would look best on those parts.

NO PICK GUARD
CHROME, NICKLE OR BLACK HARDWARE AND PICK UP RINGS

That is all,.....................

I remember seeing that body in the Showcase, good choice.

Might I infer from that coily black thing in the last shot that you've already figured out to get the vacuum cleaner out BEFORE you open the box? If so, you're surfing the backside of the learning curve years ahead of schedule... Though, I couldn't see if Warmoth included enough packing peanuts with those damn boards in the way. You'll have to count them.

With your prodigy-like skills vis a vis packing peanuts, maybe you'll even figure out
why Warmoth puts them in there at all!  :blob7:

Don't go with gold hardware. I did that on a couple of recent guitars when I was on the fence about it, really wish I hadn't.

What happened to make you regret it?

Beautiful parts! That would look good with just about a color hardware!  :guitarplayer2:

Well hello...

Beautiful flame on that one. With how much I see flame figuring now, the NOT 5A perfectly even straight flames are really what tickles me now...

Well, the more I look at it in person here the more I'm set on going with a pick guard.  It's the look I've had in my head all along and whenever I look at it that's what I'm seeing.  I'll do the no pick guard thing on the next one when I can get ALL the routes done the way I want.  I'm going with a more traditional look like below.  Everything else I've done with different pup rings and such make it look like I'm trying to make it something it's not.

I feel like I would like a black pickguard on that better than white though.. White just seems to overpower the awesome flame figure.

I think it looks pretty good like that. Though, I suggest mocking it up with a chrome-covered pickup in the neck position.
