I build a
7/8 S-Style, basswood with quilt maple top, black dye on the top, candy red in the back. Looks great, sounds great, I absolutely love it!
I haven't yet (in 18 months) made a dent in it and the finish feels like a better protection than an oil finish. Still, I think if I tried - which I won't

- it would dent easier on the basswood back, than on the maple top.
Regarding the weight: It's not heavy, but it's also kinda heavier than I expected a basswood guitar to be... say, it's on
the heavy side of light. But I didn't pick basswood for the weight anyway.
Also: I remember seeing a (finished) basswood Tele body in the showcase with something close to 5 lbs! On the other hand, I have guitars made of alder, swamp ash, poplar and (allegedly) mahagony, that are lighter than my basswood 7/8!
If weight is important, I would rather pick the "extra light" option, or discuss the matter with the warmoth guys personally!
