Electronics Guts,Volume 5 way and Tone control help. Whats good? whats not? Thanks new be question.... :dontknow: :sad1:

i have absolutly no idea what you are asking...

are you asking what brand of electronics is the best?

5 Way Switch Includes 2 Chrome Mounting Screws, Potentiometers. Sorry I have no Idea what I am talking about. I have to wire up the guitar .

I am using 2 Seymour Duncan Vintage Staggered SSL-1, and  Pearly Gates™ SH-PG1 . Here is my other post http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=4722.0

I need to wire all this together, what I am asking is what is a good 5 way switch volume control and tone controller, so I can wire this all up. :tard:  :sad1:

CRL Switches and CTS brand pots carried by Warmoth are generally considered decent.  3 x 250k Pots and 1 x 5 way.

Heres a pretty vanilla wiring diagram without phase or taps

What is the best? Or what top line brands?

The problem we have with your request for info, is that we can nominate a dozen different combos of pickups for you (single coil or humbucker  :dontknow:) and it would only be our individual choices. Somewhere along the way you are going to have to make a decision for yourself, pay the money and try out the pickups yourself.

Some folks like Dimarzio pickups others Seymour Duncan, and others yet again go for Bare Knuckle or Rio Grande.

Try to listen to a few sound samples, Seymour Duncan does have sound samples on their website for reference. Not sure about the other pickup manufacturers.

Ozz check this out... Theses are what I picked out...

OK get your point now....apologies if I came across grumpy.

In reality, EVERYONE has different experiences.  Just dont buy the 99 cent for a dozen specials.  But far as a name goes, CTS pots and Switchcraft switches.

ok so here is the next question.

I have 2 single coil pick-ups and one Humbucker.
So do I need a 500 pots and toners should be 500 as well?

For that SSH setup go with 250k for all 3.  The values of the pots are in that diagram I linked earlier.  Seriously, get to know that diagram before you heat up an iron.

250K are typically a warmer pot used on brighter pickups (single coils), and 500K are typically a brighter pot used on a warmer pickup (humbucker).  The idea is that the pot/pickup combo compliment each other.  As stated above, go with 250K an all.  On a usual strat config., the volume is a master volume, so 250K is the best compromise.  And for tone in a Strat, the bridge pickup (the SD Pearly Gates humbucker) isn't connected to a tone pot, so definitely use the 250K pots.

Cool can not wait to get the parts will be about 4 weeks, but thank you all for the help..

Check out this kit...

1 - Output jack
3 - 250K pots
1 - .050µF capacitor
1 - 5-way lever switch with white and black knobs
12" Non-shielded guitar circuit wire, 22AWG, white
24" Non-shielded guitar circuit wire, 22AWG, black
12" Shielded guitar circuit wire, 28AWG inner conductor, black
Wiring diagram.

There's a way to allow a Master Volume (stock strat) 500k pot for your HB, and change it to a 250k pot when you switch to your SCs.

Sticking a 250k pot on a typical HB (other than a JB) is going to mud it up.

I don't remember the wiring off the top of my head - have to look in my archives - ran into this same dilemma years ago.
