Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnn  :tard:
Ebay ALWAYS manages to get me in trouble and buy something I didn't need but just couldn't pass up for the price..
I just snagged an Ibanez RG prestige body for 15$  :tard:

It's got some chips/gouges out of the body and BADLY damaged paint but it's nothing thant can't handle some filler and new paint.  :icon_tongue:
I would post a pic but I can't find the listing anymore, but as soon as it comes in I'll get one up.

Any ideas on what I should do with it?  :hello2:

I gotta admit--for $15, you did well. Now...what to do with it.....at that price, you can afford to experiment a little. Personally, I'd take the time and do up a baritone guitar. You can always change it back with some work if you ever tire of it, and if you're into playing slide, a baritone suprisingly gives you an absolutely wicked sound.

Congrats on the find! I agree that eBay is the Devil, since sometimes you find stuff you can't afford NOT to buy.

Since the wood-fill type prep work is done, I say you SWIRL it!

Box of borax, some paint, and a bucket of water.

DO IT!!!

I was thinking about converting it to a hardtail... I think that would be fun and cool. some kinda string through bridge. :toothy12:

hardtail swirl! I am all for this plan (It may have to do with my recent falling in love with Wizard Necks.)

I know. for a fact, I will one day swirl something. Quite Possibly the Iceman... I wonder if I can do a Monkey Grip on an Iceman... there is so much wood there... there has to be a way.

I definatley think a hardtail, baritone, swirl-finished guitar setup for slide would be great. You sould do that. :blob7:

tie it to the bumper of your car and drive around the block twice

It looks like someone either hand-sanded it with 60-grit and gave up, or they ran out of sandpaper and used a brass bristle brush. I'm doing a restoration job on a strat knockoff I bought a while back, and when I posted the pics, someone suggested clear-coating it with the finish knocked down after I had hit the finish on the front of it down with 150-grit. If you use 220, 280 or even high-grit wet-or-dry sandpaper like 400 or 600, you could get a really smoth effect with bare wood showing wherever the finish may have been a few microns higher than in other spots. If you do that and then hit it down with a layer or two of polyurethane, you could get the rustic, relic look and still have something smooth enough to show that you did indeed finsih it.

I'd leave the finish too.

And no more swirls, it's pretty played out.

THAT'S AN OPINION!  :sad1:

Yes.
I've seen relatively few swirl finishes out there, but either way, it's ALWAYS a unique finish, because no two guitars are ever the same.

I say yes to the swirl and a violent NO to hardtail bridges.

Don't feel bad about buying this. I have one search saved on my auction, and one search only, "guitars, junk" I'm always combing the junk listings looking for that right piece. A few years back I bought a Charvel Randy Rhodes V, the small body like the Jackson, for like 30 bucks. All it needed was a little TLC and she was just fine. I fixed her up and gave her to one of my students here at school, he's a huge RR fan.
