Duplicolor - Sand between color coats?

I am using the Duplicolor acrylic lacquer  (black) to finish both the body and head stock of my guitar.  They call for three coats of paint, but don't mention any sanding between coats.  Any suggestions, thoughts or past experience as to whether this is the way to go with a guitar?  Same for after all coats are on (before the clear coat)?

Thanks

Why not? Assuming you want as mirror-smooth a finish as possible, and since it's black, then yes, I would at the very least wet-sand with  the finest grade sandpaper you can find. Since you're putting on multiple coats, make each one as smooth as you can before you apply another.
Gloss black shows every little imperfection. Take your time and do the job right. You'll be happier with the results. Best of luck and keep us up to date on your progress.

Sounds like solid advise.  As to sanding technique, what is recommended (e.g., circular motion or straight line; wet or dry, and if wet, water or something else)?

its a good idea to knock down the orange peel a bit between coats

lacquers melt into themselves, so sanding lightly will let the sanded part melt easier

be sure to clean the guitar with naphtha after sanding and/or handling it if you plan on more coats
