RAW.......There is no way I could bring myself to put a finish on a wenge neck, that's just wrong. I don't see how people play guitars with glossy necks. When I went to Guitar Center to try out neck shapes I picked up a Custom Shop Tele that had a glossy neck and I couldn't even play it....felt like I coated my hand with rubber cement....to each his own I guess.

You have to have reasonably dry hands. I have both glossy and raw necks, and can use either without issue.

shoooot....my hands are so dry I can sand drywall with them :toothy12: I had a Gibson SG I got rid of cause I didn't like the neck finish. I've mainly played acoustics so most of them had a very light satin finish and some even felt raw. Even the original satin finish maple/maple neck on my guitar started getting on my nerves. I tried everything to get it slick and stop "squeeking", sand paper, 0000 steel wool, washing my hands before playing, not washing my hands before playing, wax, no wax.....hell even powder....nada, still drove me nuts. BUT like I said, some like'em some don't....guess it's a personal thang
