Which makes the best F.M. cover for a basic eclectic bar set? Paralysis by Analysis happening over here.

+1 on Go Your Own Way.  Much more upbeat, even if it is a kiss-off song.

Plus a crowd will more likely forgive you for not singing  like Lindsey than for not singing like Stevie.

Ain't me singing! We have a nice singer (no Stevie of course). Dreams is such a personal fave it's hard to give up, though in my head I know you guys are right.

Go your own way gets my vote to...

Unless Dreams is the VH Dreams, then I like that better. But I'm assuming we're talking a bout Heart's Dreams...

Even in a thread that has nothing to do with a guitar, Doug still finds a way to insinuate that it needs a Floyd.  :headbang:

Yes, it needs a Floyd....... :headbang:

One of them doesn't even have a really prominent guitar part. Doug would say Johnny B Good needs a Floyd, so I take that in context... :occasion14:

And there was me thinking of the cranberries dreams. That is certainly a good choice, just play both, why make such a hard descision?

Even I like Go Your Own Way, and I like pre-Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac or when they had Christine McVie as the vocalist way more than with Stevie Nicks.  Dreams is over-done.

I vote for

Machine Gun.

Either that, or Eric Johnson's

Ah Via Musicom

or Trower's

The Fool and Me

Yeah, I know Fleetwood Mac didn't do any of those, but who says you have to do a Fleetwood Mac tune? Buncha vegetarian PETA-lovin' RIAA-endorsin' liberal-votin' herpes-spreadin' hippies playing chick tunes is all they are. You wanna be associated with that crowd? Better bring some incense. And flowers. Maybe a puppy.

It's just too bad they're so damn good <grin>

You could do a non-wussy (per Cagey analysis)  Fleetwood Mac song - "Green Manalishi" and "Oh Well" come to mind.

Thanks Cagey - I'll ah, keep that in mind next band practice. Anyone who doesn't like prime classic Fleetwood Mac though is seriously deficient in what they bring to the old popular music discussion. I'm in one of these "one off" bands - 6 rehearsals, a single gig on Bleecker st., see ya later. Since nobody has ever met anybody on the first rehearsal, and tastes run the gamut from Arcade Fire to Johnny Rivers, picking out tunes is the hardest part of it. We ARE doing "Rockin Pneumonia" "Signed Sealed Delivered" "Elderly Woman behind the counter in.....snooze" and "Addicted to Love" to give you a sense of what it's all about. I'm the drummer for 2 tunes, lead guy for 6 tunes. 8 tunes max, no looking back, crowd is drunk and very friendly (band's friends & families, yay). Good times, not high art.

Machine Gun is always great. I had the Band of Gypsys album on 8 Track, the day that it finally broke from playing too much I went to a local music store and found it in the used CD bin for 3 bucks!
