Don't neglect the strap . . .

For Valentine's day my wife suggested I get a custom strap for the new Flying V . . . so I did some painstaking internet research and decided upon a company from back east called 'Double Treble".  The owner, Nick, was VERY helpful and went out of his way (phone calls and emails) to make sure what I wanted was what I got.  I selected two designs from their catalog and had them put those on a 3" black leather strap. I also chose some custom embroidery. They matched the color of the V as close as they could and even changed the color of the rabbit's guitar to match mine!  These folks and their company are top notch.  :hello2:  Now, considering the beauty of all the instruments I've seen on this website (especially the GOM this month, (my God!)  :o. . . I feel these builds deserve the best.  If you're so inclined, give Double Treble a look.

thanks for the link, I am a strap freak, most my guitars have 3 or more straps as I change my mind each time I play them so if I can ge some custom stuff reasonable I will love it.

My usual choice is a white leather strap - hard to find I know. But when I started playing LIndsay Buckingham wore one and his savage Mesa inspired tone for Fleetwod Mac got my attention.

But my Butterscotch BlondeTele has a tweed one, the black P-Bass has a very thick & solid black leather one & my Fender Strat has a Fender strap. The Maton Custom Acoustic, of course, has it's own Maton strap. :icon_thumright:

I've been trying to vary my colours since the white strap days I guess. In fact, thinking about it, I can't place where my white straps are now (I had two).

The best strap I had was on my Rickenbacker that I sold. It was a caramel brown, soft British leather strap that was a pleasure to wear.

White leather sounds awesome in a glam rock sort of way.  I think I have to look into this phenomenon.  BTW, I have always had a secret admiration for white Doc Martin shoes, I think it would be a perfect match.

I am hooked on leather straps.  I purchased a leather strap with blue and silver flame, but when the guitar arrived the colors were a horrible and busy clash.  Luckily I found this Levy's black leather with embroidered cross.  I wish I knew about that place earlier, but I like this one.
We both have weapons of grace. :icon_biggrin:

Not sure I like the price tag for the sig straps (I'm assuming similar custom jobs are around the same price) but the North American Buffalo one looks like a winner.  :glasses9:

Hopefully they can accept other designs because the site they work in tandem with has quite a lot of crappy images.

I checked out some of the pictures, and honestly, I'm not too impressed.
Look how off centered these rivets are...

I started playing in the 70s so Glam was influential in some ways......wearing those horrid platform shoes of the 70s was how I first injured one of my ankles! Doc Martins , mmmm, prefer them gloss shiny black (punk UK style) - different era to Glam.

Thanks for this link.  I ordered a Brown/Black Python skin strap from Nick and I wanted the brown to be very dark to match my Warmoth that is in the works (should be done any day).  He got some skins in and had them specifically send dark ones.  I got it today and it's gorgeous.  Put it on my current guitar to try it out and I LOVE it!  I'll post a pic when the Warmoth is done :)
