Does anyone else have a problem writing a long post?

Max, I get some complaints about something not working under IE, I check every thing I write under FF, and I let guys know who say a website I wrote does not do this or is not alighned correct in IE, that they need to get rid of Ie and get a real Browser.
Not to change the subject again here, but that's not responsible web design. I always design for everything else, and hack for IE.

I have the same problem, and I usually write it in Word, then paste it to the box if it starts driving me nuts.  My girlfriend laughs at me because I'm a man of few words, but I write just the opposite.

I submit that Jusatele is actually the one doing the responsible design. If he writes to Firefox, he's writing to global standards, not some misguided corporate wet dream. The only difference between what you two are doing is that he refuses to throw poorly written code after maliciously designed code simply to satisfy the marketing weenies of a major corporation and those who've drunk their Kool-aid, where you're willing to do so. You can hack a perfectly good design so it'll work with IE, but if you ask me, that's poor practice and only encourages MS to continue to produce substandard products. At some point, the general population has to put their foot down and tell MS to wise up or risk losing their business. This silliness of eating MS's crap with a spoon is why we have most of the security, performance and cost issues we do today.

I like Cageys explanation but the truth is

everything works great in FF and the other major browsers, but it may look aligned funny, especially in PHP based designs in IE

And I am just too lazy to be bothered with an inferior product. IE sucks big green Donkey Di%^s as far as I am concerned and I refuse to suck it. Microsoft is so huge the think they cannot be broken but I think an end will come. My next puter is going be a mac just because. I refuse to put software on window based servers, it is slower and have issues.

LMAO!

I guess giving IE the finger is fine for a personal page, but for any other jobs, the only way to go is complete coverage of the mainstream market, which is full of IE users. Websites breaking in IE may be IE's fault, but cross-browser compatibility is needed to appear professional.

great max, then let us all stop catering to IE and when the populace realises they are not a good product we will not have to catrer to them

after all code works great with most other browsers, why are we held hostage to a dinosuar that is slow to change, lets let it go extinct

Perzactly. It's the kowtowing to the Borg's unreasonable and pointless idiosyncrasies that causes all the strife in the first place. Forcing a loss of market share by refusing to comply with their tyranny will cause them to adjust to and do something right for a change.

though i give microsoft credit on windows 7 because it is basically idiot proof for daily use and i haven't seen more than maybe one bsod and that was the result of a failed hard drive. it handle connected devices better than xp and sometimes i need windows because a device has no open source drivers available. i dont use it unless i absolutely need it because they lost too many points in my eyes with vista, laptops using vista were basically unusable and returning to xp is considered an upgrade (probably why they didn't drop the price on xp). i now use linux mint even though i have no idea what the hell im doing in terminal, it is just as easy to use as a mac(easier actually because the ui is more windows like). i have even been able to setup printer sharing on my dad's windows network.. and it was easier than doing it from a windows machine!

as far as browsers, ff does render some pages designed for ie a little funny. and there aren't many ff deisgned paged i know of. but chrome/chromium seem to work on everything and the better use of screen area is great for small laptops. i have both ff and chromium on my desktop, ff for plugins that i need/want for security(noscript is great) and sqlite file editing (for my phone to enable settings not shown in att's android phones like side loading non market apps) and chromium for just browsing safe sites because i like the minimalist ui.

Good news everyone!

It seems that the problem is fixed with the upgrade to IE9. You can download the new version from Microsoft, but it should be released to the update system sometime within this month or next.
