Does anyone else have a problem writing a long post?

I have noticed that I have been having problems when writing a longer post. Once I get past the last line in the scrollable text box that we all type in, the box wants to show the top line once I stop typing, causing it to jump back and forth as I type. At first I thought it was due to the computer I was using, but I now have a brand new Dell laptop and the problem continues on here as well. Does anyone else have this problem as well?

nope. but on my monitor i never reach the bottom so the top line is never hidden. which web browser? i use firefox and chromium on linux mint 9 and mint 10rc1 so my experience isn't that relevant.

this used to happen to me all the time. though i don't know if it stopped because i haven't been writing long posts much or if it was a browser/comptuer specific issue that i unwittingly fixed by accident
but i can at least verify you're not crazy. and it's RIDICULOUSLY annoying

Yeah, that happens to me as well.  If I ever write a longer post, I end up writing it in WordPad and pasting it into the window to avoid the frustration.

As a prolific, long winded writer of boring, long posts I have never experienced the problems described here. tho my fingers ache at times! Using Firefox browser and Win 7 Professional.

I have this problem at work only and using IE, but it only started about 6 months ago.  Never had the problem previously.  I use firefox at home on both my Mac and PC.  Never have any problems there.  Yes, it does get frustrateing.  I am going to try the wordpad cheat method that Hannaugh mentioned for reduced frustration...

It's most likely browser related.

No problems with very long and with embeded stuff in Fire Fox.

I've never tried IE on this site.

I use both.  I guess I just never typed anything particularly long when I was using Firefox before, otherwise I would have noticed.

I still stubbornly use IE--it took me years to know how to work with most of the bugs it has, and I've earned a good reputation for knowing how to straighten out many of the bugs. This problem, however, doesn't seem like I can de-bug it on my end. Whenever I used to do website work, I always bench-tested my stuff in IE due to two reasons:  the first, mainly, because IE could be buggy, plus, anyone who doesn't know computers will be using IE. Those who use Mozilla's products are a little more knowledge beyond checking your e-mail and paying the gas bill online, and know that there's an alternative.

I still use IE because I have tons and tons of favorites and bookmarks, and I'm too lazy to switch them over.

The other browsers has an import-function that does the work for you.  :sign13:

That's like staying with an unemployed, abusive, alcoholic spouse who cheats and gambles simply because you remember his birthday and family member's names <grin>

So far, this is the only problem I've had with IE that comes to mind.  So really it's like staying with a guy who snores because I remember his birthday.

If IE really bothered me a lot, I would have completely switched to Firefox a long time ago.  I don't see what all the fuss is about.

I see your point Hannaugh, but I'm a bit anarchistic in mind and really detest what that 'evil empire' did in browser wars a few years back by packaging the IE with the OS and trying to tell everyone when they were being queried about monopolising markets, that without IE the OS wouldn't work......Well,.two or three versions on of the Windows OS and I still have an independent browser and can call out the people at MS as blatant liars on that claim!

Also I have read and heard (yeah I know, rumours thru the net spread like wildfire) that the IE browser is suseptible to more hacks and virus than others & from my own experience way back when there was IE 5 or so, there were constant interrruptions in your internet sessions to update your IE browser thru persistent prompts, much more than I get these days from Firefox. I do find Firefox stable, whereas the old IE I was using a few years back before I switched over, was a bit glitchy - but back then that might have been the case with all brwosers. I believe all the browsers are basically copies of one or two original browsers with customisations and enhancements to make them an original, but the core function hasn't changed much at all.
