It reminds me of a solid kitchen counter top like "Corian" or a variation of it. need a closer
pic. Could be pearloid covered chips on black. These Guys do this,

:dontknow:  can just imagine that, with stage lights blinding off it in all different directions.  :icon_biggrin:

Yeah has that marbled gigsaw look.
Didn't the photo, link you to somewhere about it ?

I kind of like it thou.
Just needs an Ebony fretboard with a black hardware & pickguard.  :icon_thumright:

I like it...
I have always been attracted to MOP and abalone type finishes.  Never seen it contoured like that.  I wonder if it is a solid piece?

Yes, that is kinda similar to this body.  I might send the pic to them and see if they have any thoughts.
Thanks for the link  :icon_thumright:

It was just a random Google image and did not have any links attached.
Bummer :-\

I zoomed in close. It looks like many many laminates. I think this was done so it could be made to thickness and so that the side would not show the "grain" strangely. I believe it is some sort of solid surface material and not a finish.

Yes, I would agree that it is some type of solid product.  I guess that I formed my question incorrectly.  Silly me
I was just wondering if anybody had seen this type of guitar or product available any where.
I want to further investigate a possible build...

I did a quick search with "corian guitar" and it came back with a few results. I imagine if you insert many of the solid surface names along with "guitar" you may get some other interesting hits.

I know some luthiers around here that use that material for custom "plastic" parts. It's great stuff to work with.

That's a Formica (countertop laminate) Boomerang pattern.  Wilsonart and Vitro also make boomerang patterns: http://retrorenovation.com/2011/10/20/boomerang-laminate-3-designs-14-colors-available-today/

I"m wondering if it went something like: adhesive - confetti strips of reflective material + spary on clear coat

yes you are correct, its boomerang formica from the 50's, but most places that say they have it don't. And the ones that do are asking hundred of dollars for it.

I'll bet that's just one big milled slab of acrylic, like they use for pen blanks.
I'm using an acrylic pearly pen blank to make a trem arm tip.

Yea, that's kinda what I am thinking too.
I would be concerned about the weight of a thick acrylic body, but I guess it would be no different than one of those clear acrylic geetars  :dontknow:

Exactly.  You route out a lot of material anyway.  I'd love to find that acrylic.  Pictures don't really do it justice, but search on Acrylic Pen Blanks.  There's a zillion collors/patterns.  If you could just get a piece big enough....
Here's the one I carved, hard to capture with an iPhone camera...

Well, I finally found out who does this finish.  I searched for several hours trying to find info on this build or materials used to build it.
Last night, I was just searching around for, I can't even remember what now.  Bingo, there she was, starring me right in the face...
I'm kinda bummed at who did it, because I know I will never be paying that kinda bank for a geetar
Oh well, it is still a cool build :icon_thumright:
