Difference between a Schaller Floyd and an Original Floyd "Made in Germany"?

I was thinking of getting an original floyd rose off ebay, and I saw one new and from a refutable seller advertised at a good price. I looked at the pics and the tremolo arm blocked the area where the stamp usually is where it says "Made in Germany by Schaller" so I messaged the seller, and he replied back saying that (supposedly) there are stamps on the back that say "Made in Germany" although not by Schaller. I heard that any Floyds made in Germany are original, but I thought the real ones were all made by Schaller...Is there anything to worry about in terms of authenticity if I want to buy it?

Schaller is a German company that makes the Original Floyd Rose as well as the Schaller Floyd Rose, which has subtle modifications.

so the fact that it doesn't say "made by schaller" doesn't mean it's not the real deal then?

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure the differences have to do with licensing/patent issues, not quality or functionality. The "original" Floyd isn't any better, and in fact may be less than ideal. It's not an optimal design to begin with, so it's actually likely the after-market parts are more desirable. If you don't have a Floyd installed already or a body routed for one, you may want to review the Wilkinson design and go that route. Mechanically, it's a better bridge.

If it says "Made by Schaller" thats cool too - but it either needs to say that or "Made in Germany" either one
of those stamps and you know its the 'real deal'.

IMO, I prefer the Schaller Floyd Rose over the 'Original Floyd Rose' myself. I think its a slightly refined and superior design,
its more compact due to the shorter string lock screws.
