Don't panic, I'm still building the VIP.
But afterwards... I'm now going to build a neck-through Les Paul Double Cutaway/Les Paul Junior Double Cutaway hybrid.
Ordering everything from stewmac. (sorry, W...)
They have through-neck blanks that are fretted and profiled, with a paddle headstock. So I'm getting one of those (ebony on maple), and an african mahogany body blank, AAAA flame maple top, and two ebony fingerboard blanks to act as stringers, essentially.
So the body will be mahogany wings, with ebony stringers, and a maple center. And a flame maple top. Getting my template for the double cut from guitarbuildingtemplates.com, and i'll just adapt it for my needs.
It will be finished with red dye on top, and black dye on the back (sanded back so you can still see the woods) And i'mm put a faux binding line along the maple cap.
Hardware will be all black. Hipshot .125 hardtail bridge, single EMG 57 in brushed black chrome in the bridge position with a single volume control, black metal dome knob, black metal humbucker ring, black sperzel trim lok tuners.
It's sort of a PRS/Gibson hybrid I guess, because of the faux binding.
I am confident that I can do all the work, and if I run into any problems, my uncle is one of the best wood workers I have ever seen, so there shouldn't be any issues.
