Hello, i just want to know if these pickups would work with regards string spacing?

I'm looking at attaching the Hipshot A style .687 (17.5mm) bridge that has a total string spacing of 70mm and I will be having a warmoth deluxe 5 neck with. 1 3/4 inch (44.45mm) nut width.

I would like to make sure that the strings would be right over the poles on these pickups. I plan on having a delano Music man/jazz pickup combo. I know the position will make a difference, so the neck jazz (neck) will be in the normal jazz position and the music man (bridge) will be around the normal jazz position.

I hope this makes sense, it does in my head...i think...So if anyone can shed some light on this that would be great. Or if you have a deluxe 5 with the same bridge and nut measurements, could you tell me your spacing at the standard jazz positions?

Many thanks

Don't worry about the nut width, it's the bridge spacing that'll set where the strings end up. Also, outside of appearance, it's not critical that the strings pass directly over the pole pieces on center.

A ok, wasn't sure how much of an effect the nut had. I built a jazz fretless and the E and A herring don't quite line up, and it sounds fine, would just like it to, so it looks neater really. I'm a bit fussy about things like that.

Since those are EBMM retrofits, it would make sense that a bridge with the 5 string Stingray spacing would have them line up similar.  Rather than ask if those pickups work with your bridge's spacing, find out what the EBMM spacing is, and if it's similar to yours.  For solutions, get a bridge with adjustable spacing or a Delano pickup without exposed pole pieces.  And yes, the nut matters little, as the pickups are on the body closer to the bridge.  If a nut width on different models changes 1 to 3/16", 34 to 35" away from the bridge, the change above the pole pieces is miniscule.

Thanks for that super turbo. The string spacing on an EBMM is 11/16" (17.46mm). That's for the music man pickup to be in the position on a music man, so I assume if its moved back towards the bridge and put in the bridge position then thestring spacing shouldn't change much?

They do a pickup with no pole pieces but its a different pickup and I like the specs of the one mentioned.

Jeremiah, I didn't even notice that...haha :)

I've got a 4 string MM pickup and 4 string Hipshot A style bridge on a build.  It lines up fine.  For one thing, the pole pieces on those pickups are huge, and the bridge spacing is adjustable.  Plus, 17.46 and 17.5 are close enough.

Great, thanks for your help.

I have been recently contemplating a set of nordstrand big singles....
