Hey folks,

Some of you may remember the Warmoth / Fender XII that I put together a few years ago.  This instrument was custom painted by my bass player, and it was and remains a stunning instrument:

At the same time I got the parts together for a Jazz Bass on her request.  The plan was she was going to paint that one up as well to suit herself when she had the time.

Well now she has time.  Up until now she has been playing it with just a coat of sealer on it:

Looks kinda cool like that - in a hippie I-stripped-off-the-original-finish-to-get-back-to-nature kinda way.  But she's gonna paint it.  Here's the before shot:

I took it all apart last night and discovered a few interesting things.  The neck is a very old (as in 20 years) Warmoth neck:

has the old logo and the square fingerboard.  It also has great flame!

and here's the body - all ready for her to do her thing:

When I first saw Mayflower's video I though all those girls in his band were like his sisters or something, but not! I soon figured out it's just because all Canadians look alike because they are all related (especially their teeth), though some time back - there were only like, three of them in 1825. So it's not quite like kissing your sister but it's gotta make for some slightly creepy "beer-goggle moments." There are a lot more than three of them now though, so they must be gettin' over one way or another.

You're thinking of the Acadians, and there were 14 families that avoided expulsion.

Without being that guy, the internet forum perv, women bass players be hot!  Ironically, Tal Whatsherface doesn't do a whole lot for me.  Probably too young, but I digress.  I was expecting to see painted bass pics.  So what's up, Teasefly?  BTW, is that the neck that was on the Fenderbird?

You guys are pretty much guaranteeing that she'll never contribute to this thread <wags finger>

Hey - it's the work in progress section!  It's in progress!  and yes, this is the neck that was on the Fenderbird.  The bird body was sold sometime last year and the neck found a new home.  :headbang:

Rhonda Smith is Canadian!

I'll bet she's not afraid of us. Even if she is Canadian.

I can't see her teeth in this shot, so it's hard to tell if she looks like all the other ones.

I hate that my first thought in seeing that picture was "Huh, she's pretty attractive" and posting that probably makes her less likely to contribute to the thread. I'd much rather think "Sweet bass" or "I wonder what kind of music they play" or the same type of things that I think when I see a picture of a guy with a bass.

Damn hindbrain.

Gentlepeople,

The bass has the color coat on it:

looks pretty good to me.  She says she'll finish clear coating this week - and then we get to build a bass out of it!

:headbang:

I'm not usually a big fan of floral decorations, but that's quite attractive. Gonna be a beautiful and unique instrument.

Nice - same with 'I don' generally but I like this one' on the floral.

And yeah folks - it's immature generally, but hey the internet is full of such behavior. But it does get kinda creepy when it's someone known personally to a participant of the thread.

Well, you ARE lucky she is Canadian. If she was a meercan, you'd have to do a different bass to match each pair of shoes & purse she owned.
