Custom mustang build

So I placed an order last week for my next build, a new custom built mustang. It’s mahogany double bound in tortoise and I’m having it shipped  + a showcase neck to MJT for a reverse dog hair finish on both.

I’m excited but really not sure how everyone manages to wait for so long... I’ll update the thread as progress is made.

Hmm, so where does MJT source the dog hair for the finishing? I don't know about reverse dog hair, but I've got plenty of yellow lab floating around my house if you need any... 

Lol lovely neck, I can't wait to see how this turns out! I guess I'm out of the loop cause I had to google what a "reverse dog hair" finish looks like. So its kind of like a Gibson "tv white"? Sounds pretty sweet!

I didn’t know what reverse dog hair was either. I was stuck trying to figure out what kind of what I wanted...

But, I have a sg custom with ‘silver fox’ finish and I thought it might be cool to have the reverse of that so I started searching on the web and found out that not only did it exist and have a name, MJT knows how to do it

So the body is now at mjt, the pickups are on order and I got a heap of hardware - a mix of actual vintage and aged...

I’m not very good at the waiting part, I don’t know how y’all do it.

I definitely will take pics when I get it back and I’m super pleased with what I’ve seen so far. With any luck I’ll have it in hand in the next couple weeks.

Strong agree on the waiting part. Probably still a month away before I get my parts getting a bit jittery.

WOW!  That is going to be KILLER!  I never heard of that finish either, but it is cool.  The contrast of the silver-like finish and the dark fret board is striking.  Can't wait to see this come together!
