Although I've played the guitar for 25 years, my ear isn't that great.  I really want to learn that Fernando Miyata "Insanely Amazing Guitar Solo" that's on You Tube.  I've since discovered that there are people who will transcribe tabs for the perfect-pitch impaired.  Does anyone here have any experience or recommendations on who I should use (or not use)?

If you  wanted to pay someone to do it, there is a guy in England called Levi Clay who is doing transcriptions. He's done stuff for Lick Library and so on. A search for his website should help you find a contact. No idea what he charges.

On another note, to help improve the ear Amazing Slow Downer, is a good piece of software and Ultimate DVD Player, can help to slow things down to work through pieces. Something melodic are good starting points to work on ear training.

Few have perfect pitch though developing relative pitch is possibly more attainable.

+1. I can vouch for that. Really handy piece of code. There's a Mac version, too.
