I am beyond impressed you turned those on a drill press! Also a little terrified at the thought, but then lathes are pretty scary too.

I just found this thread and was eagerly scrolling through looking for pictures of the finished instrument. Was this ever finished? What does it look like? I must know!
Oh man, I love geckos and I’ve never seen a spruce top in the wild. I’d love to see it complete.I just found this thread and was eagerly scrolling through looking for pictures of the finished instrument. Was this ever finished? What does it look like? I must know!
Definitely very interested! Are you doing a spruce overlay for the headstock? I love matching headstocks…I also found this thread while researching how my next Warmoth (six-string not bass) body would look.
After going through what must have been close to all possible permutations, I ended up placing an order a couple of weeks ago for something very similar to the bass body pictured in this thread.
It will be a rear-routed 7/8th S-Style body with a 1-Piece Alder (not Roasted Alder) body and Spruce lam top, with a dark wood laminate accent line and a clear gloss coat front and back. Which will be paired with a Rosewood and Ebony 7/8th Warhead neck that I already have.
I just went ahead and ordered the body without any reference pictures, going by other separate Spruce and Alder guitar examples I found online, and relying on the fact that when I'm actually playing the guitar (which is the main factor of owning a guitar for me) I won't be paying much or any attention to how it looks anyway.
I'll try to remember to post some pictures when it arrives, probably in a couple of months from now, if anyone's still interested and just for future reference.
Somehow I missed the rosewood neck, that will be a statement itself!Nah, no spruce overlay on the headstock. I can see the appeal, and it might look good in its own way, but I wanted the Spruce lam top on the body to kind of stand on its own in contrast to the darker neck and headstock. Won't know really how it all comes together until I actually see it, but that's the plan so far.
I'll make sure to post some pics with the neck and the body placed together to help visualize or imagine how it might look with a different coloured neck and headstock.
