Linear Oooga, Audio Booga. :icon_jokercolor: but, seriously It's all a matter of personal preference. I have an example I can use of my Schecter that you may find interesting. It originally came with all linear pots, volume and tone both. In this case for volume there is one for the bridge and another for the neck, so the linear allows a more even blend between the two, instead of just switching. Most of the time I would believe that the linear would only work well for a guitar in the tone circuit, that is it's steady resistance change vs the changing position of the knob let's you dial in specific cut-off points more even. I noticed on that guitar before I rewired it with all audio tapers, that every little tweak of the tone knob changed the tone. Now that it's all audio, I can move the tone knob quite a bit before the change in tone goes from subtle to drastic, which is cool for me because I like having that option. Everyone has explained what the difference is very well, but if you were searching online, more than likely you found the relationship graphs for both. The graphs would indicate the difference very well too with the understanding you have gained from this group.
