I remember someone (I think it was kboman) saying a while back that they hated the sound of a guitar through a wah pedal. I have the same aversion to bass through whatever effect that is in the Flea clip. Some kind of envelope filter I guess? The playing's cool, but that farty sound is awful to my ears.
 
Every time I see a Muse live video, I'm impressed by their bass player.  And their guitarist.  And their drummer.  These two have crazy basslines:

I'm with you one billion percent, man. That would have sounded so much better if he had just let the frickin' thing rumble like a bass should. I hate it when people use effects on a bass.

It makes me sad that no one put up Metal Health by Quiet Riot. That song is what started my whole sickness with guitars. I heard that bass break in the middle and it gave me chills. It's nothing fancy but it's still bad ass. That coupled with Steve Harris from Iron Maiden is what got me. My dad got me a bass and a small amp that X-mas. He also got my younger brother a guitar. I started taking bass lessons at the local music shop and the first thing I learned was Iron Maiden.....I think he tried to teach me Run to the Hills. hehe!! Then, one day at school a girl in my art class told me that Iooked like David Lee Roth and the whole Van Halen sickness set in. After seeing EVH with that striped guitar and the matching overalls and the killer guitar playing I traded axes with my younger brother and never looked back. But, to this day the bass is still in my heart. I love the bass.

Yeah, I just realized that I don't one a single album of them but IMHO Muse is one of the best british bands of the last 20 years.
The bassplayer's endurance is off the scale. Most bass players would cramp up before the first chorus is over.
 
Oh my God, I apologize to the God's for not mentioning Jojo Garza from Los Lonely Boys. That dude is outstanding.

Heh, just the other day I was saying Muse is "chick metal" and mostly girls like it.  My friend was arguing against that (even though he doesn't like Muse either).  Then the only girl on the forum posts all these Muse videos  :toothy12:

I wouldn't call it metal.  It's more like "heavy rock opera".  I like it for the classical aspect, ie the insane orchestral breaks on the albums.  I know tons of guys that are into them though, so that must just be a phenomenon of your area.  Though I can see why it would appeal to girls since they're one of the only hard rock bands out there now that doesn't spend all their time whining about girls.

That's pretty much hilarious, coming from a ~girl~ and all. I am [size=12pt]SO FRIKKING TIRED of hearing about your baby, your baby left you, you love your baby, your baby loves somebody else,  jeez losers, it's been DONE TO DEATH.  :help:

OF COURSE your baby left you, your songs suck, OK? Good for her! Maybe she'll meet a nice accountant... And furthermore, I don't give a rat's patootie if you woke up dis moanin', wake up anytime you want. But just shut up.  :icon_tongue:
