Cleaning Roasted Maple

Hi Guys,

I have a roasted maple neck on my strat and it's getting some 'gunk' on the fingerboard.  I was wondering what you guys recommend as far as a cleaning solution.

You don't say if it has a finish or not
If raw, you can use naphtha followed by fretboard "oil" of choice (they're all mostly mineral oil with fragrance and thinners... just sayin)
If finished, you can probably still do naphtha, but check for your finish type.
Naphtha cuts finger oil/crud really well, can loosen crud in pores and at edges of frets, dries very rapidly, and won't effect most finishes.  Most but not all.  Its good on lacquer, poly that Warmoth uses.  If out have a big-box store oil finish... might want to test it on a scrap item first.
