im trying to find a song, classical, that will make the kids at school gasp when they see me play at the variety show. yes i am that lame. it should be an impressive upbeat and uptempo song. basically i want to showcase my skills.

I think that I would be greatly impressed by any of these presentations:

Practice up and good luck on stage...

I'm sorry, but trying to play anything to show off and make people gasp or whatever is just plain out douchey.
It's very poor taste IMO. Kind of like the kind of characters you see trying to show off when you walk into Guitar Center.

I don't get it. Why shouldn't he wow them with his playing? Should he work on something lame and boring to put them to sleep?

Play something by Rodrigo Y Gabriella, they sound harder then they are. But that's a different type of classical.  :icon_biggrin:

Oh, and my friend can play flight of the bumblebee at 1/2 the tempo.  :toothy12:

quoting Luke here: "when you poop your pants while playing, that will make them gasp!"

oh btw, are you trying to impress the girls or the guys??

in my experience, girls will be more impressed when you play a simple 3, 4 chord beatles song and sing along with it.

if everything else fails, then just do like the guy I saw at guitarcenter earlier this week: he played like horrible crap, but had his guitar face perfected.. ok, maybe don't do that... it made me cringe now I think of it. he switched from his orgasm face to his "I'm in pain" face....ohhhh it hurts when bending a string  :tard:

flight of the bumblebee is cliche. im talking more bach or mozart or tchaikovsky or something in those eras. im trying to impress the retarded kids who think that they are awesome as all hell because they can "play ___-core" and say that there is no way i even know how to play "real" music. yes those people do exist. they take up a large majority of my school.

I guess I don't get why you're trying to impress people with a style of music that you're not authentically into.  That out of the way, learn Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring."  There are quite a few decent arrangements out there for classical guitar, and it's got some great modulations in style that lend themselves well to a classical amateur who's learning his/her first piece of this sort.  Oh, don't make the mistake of trying to play this too fast.  It's meant to be slower than most people play it.

Here's a random clip I found of some dewd showing his hands playing the first part:

edit: And here's a decent rendition of it:

I was going to post the original from the classic album "Friday Night in San Francisco", but it's a duet.  I found this solo version.  This is more flamenco, but it's flashy by nature.

i am authentically interested in classical music. if it were up to me i would train classically. but i has no moneys.

Look up Paul Gilbert's "Guitars from Mars"  (Part 2, I think)

almost an entire instructional video devoted to playing classical licks.  Should be all over youtube.

one of my friends recommended vivaldis four season winter 1st movement. she plays violin and she says its fun. it sounds awesome so im considering that.

Killer of Giants

Great tune, classically based. The rockers in the audience will recognize and love it. To everyone else it will fit your requirements. Easy to play, tabs all over the 'net.

i saw mr big live couple of weeks back. pg is so good. i think he plays an ibanez semi-hollow.

at the end of the show they played "smoke on the water" with everybody substituting for everybody else. pg played drums and he smoked with that too!
