I got this chechen neck as soon as they were announced, but had to look for quite a while to find a body to suit it. Schaller Bridge, EMGs and a full fret job and setup. Grain filler and tung oil finish.

I've been waiting to see one of those necks in a build.  What does it play like?

Being unfinished, it's got a very nice smooth wood feel. No lacquer grab. I had a luthier do a full fret level, crown and polish and I set it up with low action, so it feels quite 'fast'. Getting the nut to work right without string trees was a bit of a bear, but I got it in the end. I don't like string trees but then the angle of the nut slot needs to be in a tighter range. EMGs sitting closer to the strings than normal pickups is taking some getting used to.

That's sharp! I like that one a lot.

Getting nuts right is always tricky business. It's funny how particular such a seemingly innocuous part can be.
