Changing a floyd nut to a normal nut

There used to be some nuts called Ebanol sold for this exact job. Perhaps you might be able to find one somewhere.

I've heard/read of them, but you can't find them even for the love of money. Not sure why. Spent about a half a day on it not too long ago. Saw a neck I wanted but it had been ruined with a Floyd nut installation, and wanted to find a way to get around it. No luck, unless I wanted to machine something myself. Auction ended before it occurred to me to talk to Doug about machining something appropriate. Next time, I'll know better.

And if you're reading this, Doug, you should design something like that up and offer it as a product. I'd bet real money you could sell a good pile of them for quite some time.

Did you find a solution for retrofitting a standard type nut yet?

Right now I will just use the floyd. 

I have not screwed this together yet.  I have dozens of parts laying around, except a body.  It is enough to build a guitar.  I decided to get one of the GuitarFetish XGP bodies.  $50 after discount.  It should be here is a few days.

It is going to be a hardtail SSS strat with a purple metallic finish.  I did find a cool purple pearloid pick guard for it too.  The neck is Canary so it will be a nice contrast.  I still have some pieces of purple heart laying around from other builds so I may add a bone nut with a purple heart accent of top.  I want to want and see how this GFS body works before I start fabbing up a nut.  BTW>>>>gold hardware too :hello2: (Its what I had laying around)

Sounds like that'll be a nice instrument.

Their XGP series parts are pretty faithful dimensionally, so you shouldn't have any trouble with assembly/setup. The finish isn't Warmoth grade, of course, but it's a lot better than most DIY jobs. You definitely won't feel like you've built a compromise.

Good luck with that body,because I hadn't! Bought the same color,tempting price but the neck pocket was too  wide for my taste.Otherwise it's very light and resonant

they spec 2 3/16.  I would rather it be big than small.  I have some thin sheets of maple I could cut and glue in to string it a bit, if needed.

Wow.  That looks like a heavy duty piece!  Nice work!  It could double as a weapon!

For strings or skin! Looks like that could cause a nasty cut, cool idea though.

for the flat top , it was design for put an other deco top on it , but I think that too much over done . so it can be round up a bit later .

You don't need the tunneling under to depress the strings on their way to the tuners, either. That'll just create hang-up points for no reason. It would be worse than string trees and cause erratic tuning.

I tend to agree with you, but a lotta people wouldn't. Given modern tuners, the strings on a hardtail are pretty static. Still, there's no sense in tempting fate if you don't need to.

That’s nice doug.  How many mm is that?  Unfortunately this neck was a 1 5/8 (41mm).  I have a feeling this is likely for 1 11/16
