Case For JM With Bigsby

It's been a number of years since I had a guitar with a Bigsby. Does anyone know how much a Bigsby will affect the fit of a guitar in its case? I'm going to need a case for my JM build which will have a Bigsby. There are several good cases available out there made specifically for JM's. I really don't want to pack the thing into the car and head to another town where there's a guitar store without having it in a case so it's hard to try a case before getting one. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks. RG

I don't have one but I would try to find a shop that has one of the 2016 fender JM's with a Bigsby installed and ask them or visit.

That is a good idea.

The only guitar I have with a Bigsby on it is my L5S, which is in a case that's much too large for it to begin with because finding a decent case for one of those is next to impossible. Once in a great while you'll see a used one that's beat to death on ebay for eleventy bajillion dollars, but other than that they just don't exist.

Good idea. Thanks.

For whatever it's worth, I have Bigsbys on Teles, Les Pauls and an ES-137 and they all fit in their original cases. They squeeze a bit when you secure the latches, but that's not such a bad thing. If you can take the finished product in to a local shop with a good case selection and do an actual test-fit, that would certainly be ideal.

I called Fender with the model number from the link that new-killer-star posted. The rep gave me two part numbers, one is the standard black case, p/n 0996112406, and the other was a tweed case, p/n 7709456000, which is evidently a the one they send with that limited model.

That also indicates that Verne may have the right idea that it might fit in a standard case.

I'll have to finish the thing and just go down to a guitar store with it.

Thanks to everyone for all the help.

I checked with SKB to see what they recommended. According to them, their standard Jazzmaster case doesn't fit one with a Bigsby. I would need to go with one of their utility cases with layered foam or with nothing inside and figure out how to pad it. That's a fairly expensive way to go, not to mention overkill.

I also checked with several vendors on ebay and one said their case will fit it. Pitbull Audio offers a Gator GW-JAG Jazzmaster Style Deluxe Hard Case. I'll wait until I have the Bigsby and neck on to order one so I can check it for fit when it arrives. If not, then I'll have to get the Fender one.
