Carved Top Telecaster Thickness?

Having never played a Telecaster before, can anyone tell me how the thickness of the carved top Tele body compares to a standard Tele body?  Is it thicker at the raised part toward the center of the body, and thinner at the edges?  Has anyone found any major difference in tone between the flat top and the carved top Tele?  Thanks.

The total thickness of the carved-top telecaster body is the same as a standard tele.  It's thinner at the edges than the standard tele.  The carving takes away a lot of lumber, and makes it a whole lot more comfy to hold and play.  I love mine.
