I am thinking about putting together another Telecaster with a carved top body. I have asked this question on a bunch of forums without receiving the answer I need, so hopefully you guys can help.
I find Teles without a forearm contour almost unplayable, as the flat top makes me rotate the neck away from me and I’m stuck reaching for it.
I can’t find a side view picture of a Warmoth carved top Tele body. I assume that the carve is less than the forearm contour on a slab body. The 4 degree neck angle on a set neck LP makes up for this and places the neck where it feels comfortable to me.
This build would be dual HBs with a 2 point tremolo. Warmoth tells me that the neck angles they cut on those bodies are between 1-3 degrees, and I assume that for a 2 point trem they would use the shallow angle. What does that translate to in terms of neck placement? Compared with a standard flat top Telecaster, where does the nut wind up in relation to the body?
I am hoping that the neck angle is such that the nut is rotated back towards the body, and hopefully more than on a standard Telecaster. I know that I could specify a bigger angle by going with a tuneomatic setup, but I really want to go with a 2 point tremolo. If I did ask for a deeper neck angle, with their body contour would it work with a 2 point tremolo?
Thanks in advance.
