Throw a maple/maple Snake Head on this one and nobody will give the body a second glance.

That's actually quite good advise.  Think about it.  All the paddle heads are 6 inline styled as far as pre-drilled tuner holes are concerned.

If you wanted to cut your own 3x3 headstock, there's not really an option out there unless cut your own shape and drill your own tuner holes, which may be desireable for some.

For others, taking a snake head and just modifying the very end can let you invoke your own identity into the headstock design.

I was hoping for something a bit more creative and unique, like Frank Hartung's guitars.
I thank R thar n Yurp you mat axully see a wider variety of gits, really. At least I don't get a whiff of that "If it ain't Fender or Gibson or Gretch or maybe Paul Reed Smith, it cain't be good" like I get from my somewhat r'neckish friends. One of the better $25 I spent this year was on "Electrified: The Art of the Contemporary Electric Guitar" by Robert Shaw - major coffee-table guitar porn for the kiddie price, and plenty of Yurpeen luthiers too. Peter Malinoski's guitars really set me thinking about the whole plastic pickguard/front-route biz - he uses some thick wood "pickguards."

Though some of his shapes are lookatme-lookatme wierd, he's like FIXED the front-route-equals-cheap vibe. And I HAVE to start a new thread....
