I'm sure I've posted something on this here before - just to lazy to find it - it's been a while.

I bought this back during the 30 Anniv. Sale just cause I loved it but didn't know exactly what I was going to do with it.

It's a chambered Tele with a Mahogany back. I thought Mahogany neck - kind of a Les/Tele vibe. But during this time I finished number 2 with a Goncalo Alves Neck and FB and fell in love with using another unfinished exotic with the Neck and FB being the same. Which would kind of also complete my trio as number 1 has a maple/maple neck.

Ultimately went with a Bubinga neck and FB. It's a 24-3/4 conversion - wolfgang.

So without further a do pics. Not quite done - will wire this weekend.

interesting to say the least. The body alone looks awesome, but for some reason the whole package doesn't look right to me.

How much did that cost you? I didn't pay any attention during the sale.

Wow - the photos really capture the look of the grain, but I'm sure it looks even better in person. Sweet axe!

That's the great thing about Warmoth - to each his own - I love the way it's coming out. I really had no expectation for how the bubinga would look and I think it goes perfectly with the natural mahogany back on the guitar.

I don't remember exactly what I paid I want to say around $375.

so your the culpret....I was going to buy that as the matched set for this

haha - you snooze you lose!

I know I missed two other bodies that's how I ended up with the trans black thinline. I missed a Koa topped cream bound tele. That I'm still lusting over - Koa will be next.

If that's the guitar you built for your dad - it was certainly the inspiration for this guitar.

The finish is beautiful. I've seen them on their site and I love how unique it is. Quite frankly I get sick of seeing the same old finishes everywhere. Next build I do is going to be strictly a spotlight build to keep the prices down as I don't want to finish another guitar if I don't have to. I simply don't have the tools/expertise to keep it a clean job. I've got a million ideas running through my head. To get a finished body for 375, is a steal in my opinion. My body and neck together, cost me 680 unfinished. The complete build is looking like a 1400$ guitar. The price really adds up quicker than you'd think.

Wow!  Very nice.  How are you going to wire those pickups?  To use a 24-3/4 neck, is the bridge location moved closer to the neck also?

It's the conversion neck, so all the bits on the body stay in the same place, the frets are just in the correct position to be able to work with what was originally designed to be 25.5" scale.

I'm wiring to get all four positions - So I will a standard three way tele switch for pick-up selection. The volume will be a push-pull - I will add a hole for a two-way micro switch. The second hole I will use an EMG AB. I don't ever use tone knobs and the AB gives a great variable clean boost or a nice overdrive or lead boost.

The combination of the push-pull and micro will give Humbucker Parallel, Humbucker Series, P-90, Rail.

Awesome! That thing will be versatile for sure... I feel like our Telecasters should meet :icon_biggrin: would be a room full of great telecaster bursts and finishes!

Now after I've seen it a dozen times, I think my eyeballs want to see a lighter neck on that thing. Thats probably why it looks the way it does.
