Canary Finish?

Soooo... even though I have a build in progress, my girlfriend and I made the mistake of browsing the showcase last night. Long story short, we have a nice Mahogany body with a Canary top coming in soon (Neck is Bubinga/Pau Ferro).

Question is, what sort of finish would you folks recommend on Canary... I'm thinking oil, but not quite sure which one to go with. Any opinions out there? I looked through the search bar, but it didn't really point me in any good solid direction this time.

First of all, congrats on having a cool gf  :occasion14:

You'll find the concensus here is that canary should be left nekkid, but [for a top wood] I like the look of it with a few coats of Tru-oil or even a clear gloss finish.  That's just my opinion, which is considered sacrilegious and enough to get a guy strung up, drawn, quartered, and burned around here.    :icon_biggrin:

Yeah, if it was a neck, I'd say leave it nekkid. But a body top? Gotta put some kinda robust finish on it. I'd do either a clear gloss or maybe a clear to light brown burst. Brown being the edges, of course.

Good feedback, thanks guys :).

And on this note:

I'll let her know you approve haha - she doesn't play but I definitely turned her into a Warmoth fan!

Yeah sounds like a good idea to put a finish on it so its got some defence from any knocks and scrapes etc...

I mainly came here to say why are all the awesome women on the other side of the pond  Stop stealing them all!

Ahem...

Have Tonar lay on a clear to amber sunburst. Like the clear to brown, but subtler and just a tad warmer.

I'd agree with most on this. Although normally I'd say go nekkid. But i wouldn't go crazy with all kinds of browns and tints and all that nonsense. Just go with some nice light coats of Tru-oil and some nice buffing... :dontknow: :rock-on:

Oh ya...

You guys rock :party07:, lots of different ideas and answers kinda points me to the belief that there really isn't a bad direction to go here as long as it's protected. Looking forward to showing this off :)
