At the end of the day you're still Canada though.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing.  But the fact is that Canada is the best nation on earth - because Canadians are the best on the ice!  :hello2:

You poor, poor misguided Canadians.  I do like Ice Road Truckers though so I guess that's something.  Then again, they moved the last season to Alaska.

I'm a huge hockey fan. I was rooting for the US because it's my country, but hockey is a Canadian sport, so it's nice to see them win it. And after all, silver isn't half bad. So, congrats to our friends from the Great White North, maybe we'll get them next time.

I just think its funny that for 20+ years the grudge match was with the Sovs.  Then in '91 people forgot the USSR didn't exist anymore and the only true grudge match on the ice was mens figure skating between Elvis Stojko and that Russian guy Alexi-whatever.

Then suddenly out of nowhere the grudge match is Canada vs. USA ...  when did that happen?

Us Canadians flirt on the edge of a razor though.  We so wish we were Americans, but are so damn glad we aren't... Can't seem to make up our minds.

The olympics were better imho before they started letting professional athletes (read: The NHL) compete.

on the other hand.  We played the way we always do.  Great to start out, get cocky, screw up. then fight like hell to make up for our screw up :p

gg everybody gg

It was a great game, congratulations to Canada.

Living in Pittsburgh, at least I can sleep easier knowing that it was Sid Crosby who scored the winning goal,  We love him here, so it lessens the pain.

It was a game that would have been cool for the US to win, but a matter of national pride for Canada.

Hockey in Canada is gold or nothing

Being a Canadian hockey player and fan myself you can imagine how high I jumped off the couch when Crosby scored haha

Canada brought the world Neil Young and French Fries covered in brown gravy and cottage cheese, so they're not all bad.

POUTINE!!! I try to eat a poutine every week :icon_thumright:

Rush is Canadian right? That pretty much does it for me. You rule!

Congrats on the victory - I didn't get to see the game because it was night here.

Sorry to see the USA loose.  But being from PGH and a Pens fan...I was happy to see Crosby score.

I live literally 10 mins from where Sid Crosby grew up.  I'm surprised there was little/no property damage.

I don't even like hockey, but there was definitely a city full of very happy (read: drunk)  people.

That was an amazing game, and good for the sport!  The US had a great run for a team that wasn't supposed to medal.  Congrats to Canada for taking the gold.

The telephone (yes, Alexander Graham Bell was Canadian)

Not that I care or anything, 'cos I'm British (and we're rubbish at everything we invent), but........

AGB was Scottish.... He just lived and worked in Canada.

Back to your regular programming

You do have a point.  In addition AGB also had labs in Boston to be able to exchange ideas with Edison and other smart folks of that era.
Such are the dangers of laying claim to things in the name of a nation.  I'm sure that AGB thought that science transcended nations.

Oh well - we're still the greatest on ice!  :eek:ccasion14:

The game could not have ended any better for hockey, Canada and the NHL:  Gold medal game tied at the end of three and having Sidney Crosby win it in overtime, classic!

It's too bad that NBC had the coverage.  It was one big commercial with breaks in between where they showed some Olympic Winter Sports.

Congratulations to Canada! Not only with the gold medal in hockey, but also for the fantastic 17 day long spectacular winter olympics! I really enjoyed the seremony yesterday, where Petter Northug was awarded with the gold medal for 50km cross country skiing.

While Canada rules the ice - Norway rule the ski tracks!

Petter Northug - the norwegian ski cannon!

Norway landed on a fourth place on the olympics, and I'm proud of my country!

Congrats to Norway, they've always been a dominant force in winter Olypmics.

Since when did counting silver and bronze medals count towards a countries overall position?

Seriously, no disrespect to 2nd and 3rd place but if you're going to count them you might as well count 4th, 5th and 6th and so on.

The Olympics is about the best athletes and the best athletes are the ones with the chunk of gold around their neck!

I can see both sides.  If you're there, you're already are the best in the world, especially if the difference between Bronze and Gold is measured in the hundredths of a second.  And yes, adding up all medals regardless of the color is the equivalent to winning a championship w/out winning a race.  I don't care because it ain't football.

I'm glad my country participated - it made all the others look good.  :laughing7:

No - Denmark is not big on winter sports  :icon_jokercolor:
