Can someone identify this finish?

I've been seeing finishes similar to this in modern metal guitars recently. I'm wondering how it's achieved.

There's a bigger picture of something similar here

I'm assuming it's just dye over a burl of some kind, but I'm no expert. Does anyone want to weigh in on what it is?

I agree with the turquoise dye/transparent tinted finish guess, but if that's buckeye burl, it comes with some wacky color tendencies of its own that could be contributing to the mysteriousness of the finish.
