did a second mock up today trying to decide on a pickguard color

I think I prefer the black, but just to throw a spanner in the works, what would be wrong with a black/red/black version?

Accent that body finish right nice...

Plus, if you wanted to have something unique engraved on it, you'd have red show through.

That could be pretty cool. if you hold the guitar just right you can see the red shining thru.

That's what I figured. Plus, the red stripe on the 'guard is very thin, so it's just a conservative but complementary bit of accent that won't jump out like the white strip does on the black 'guard you have now.

that particular black guard is just one I chopped up to see how it would look. i would order one that is shaped specifically for the cabronita.

BRB looks sharp. I was actually wanting something more like RRB, but that was on a black guitar.  Anything other than Black, White, or BWB/WBW is a bit pricey relative to the more common pickguards too.

so in the end I hated the color it came out to be. I stripped it down and started over.
here's the progress so far.
4 coats of cordovan transtint mixed with water
8 coat of tru oil
