What do you use?  I use Monster Standard 100 cables everywhere.  Lifetime warranty, it's a one-time purchase.  I don't know if I'm unusually hard on my cables or what, but I trade them in pretty frequently, maybe every 2 years one starts to get sketchy.

I had a monster cable go bad on me - it wasn't made good to start out with. It had clear silicone or whatever on one end but not on the other. it broke on the end without the silicone...

But I do like that they'll give you a new one. I got mine replaced. I have a bunch of different types - they all seem good. I have a Dimarzio one that has silver and black woven outer cover that I like. I also got a Fender angled end cord that is nice too. The main one that I plug into my guitars is a Vox angled end and curly cord that is clear colored. I like that one a lot because it never gets tangled. They're all 20ft I think. I figure I'll have these cables for the rest of my life.

GeorgeL's, by far the best of the best in my book.  Make 'em any length you like.  If they fail, you can fix 'em in about one minute with a common pocket multitool.

I've said this before... but I saw Chuck Berry's 80th birthday bash, with Little Richard... and Chucks cable failed as he came out.  The stage tech sprang to it, grabbed Chucks cable (it was loooooong), and did the fix on the spot.  I was close enough that I said... hey he's got a GeorgeL's!

If you're into stage length cables... like 100 feet of cable... GeorgeL's.  The losses in them are such that 100 feet of GeorgeL's is the same as 20 feet of most other premium cables.  They tell me its good for pedal gear too, but I rarely use more than just my Bluesbreaker clone pedal, so I cant vouch for that.

Mostly monster cables at the moment.  My coworkers wife works at Radio shack and I can't complain for 50% off.

Klotz, I haven't managed to kill one in 15 years.
Ha ha... that makes you a poseur ! Busted by the Turtlebuster ! ! ! 100 demerits!

I had a planet waves gold plated one, but it had an angled connection on it and with my sg i just F'ed it. now i just some unknown brand ones that are really good.

I use the GeorgeL's on my pedalboard and they work fine.  However, they tend to need renewing every once and awhile as the contacts oxidize.

For other stuff I build my own using Canadare cable and Neutrik ends.

Looks like GeorgeL is George Lewis. I had a great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather named George Lewis. Doubt they're the same. The one I'm related to was born around 1600.

How do you fix a cable with just a multitool?

Undo the retaining screw on the GeorgeL's tip
Slide the tip off the cable
Cut the cable back about 1-1/2 to 2 inches
Check to make sure its a clean cut, no frays touching edge to center
Slide the tip back on the cable
Tighten the retaining screw so its flush with the outside of the GeorgeL's tip

Fixed!  Takes seconds if you have done it a few times... assuming your multitool has a sharp knife and a screwdriver.

I'd been using Monster Cables for quite a while (Pro 500 series) but I recently bought a couple of sets of the Planet Waves Pedalboard kits.  One of the best investments I've made in a while.

At the moment I have a mix between Monster and George L's.  In the future I will be using the George L's on everything.  -CB- is right, they are easy as pie to fix should you have a problem, though I have yet to mess one up.  The fact that you can buy the parts and cut the cable to any desired lenght is a big selling point as well.

I've been using George L's ever since CB raved about them, Now I agree with him, awesome.

funny how many things CB talks about that I try and like, ie.. deft, Pure tung oil, dramboui (sp?)

Drambuie, like the town in Kenya <gg>

Many thanks for that compliment too. :occasion14:
