Burst-finished headstocks?

Hello all,

I'm intrigued by the option to have a headstock fitted with a figured maple veneer and dye or burst finished to compliment a matching body. There's not much out there for photographic examples, any chance any of you have had one done like this and would care to show off some pics?

Thanks,

VB

I did one for a member here a few years ago that sounds sorta like what you describe...

The neck meat is actually Rosewood, but he wanted the figured Maple face on the headstock to match the body.

I'm afraid there really aren't any pictures of the completed axe. All I ever had was the neck. There's this 'work in progress' shot, but it's not very flattering...

Boy, there's just nothing wrong with any of that! I know the headstock is the subject, but that is one helluva piece of rosewood, too. Thanks Cagey!

Beautiful match-up, Cagey. I like it a lot. I'm glad this came up since it's been on my mind at times, too.

I remembered a couple others you might like to see. This is a Tiger Maple Strat I built 5 or 6 years ago...

That neck is Ebony over Koa with a curly Maple veneer on the headstock, with the whole thing finished in vintage clear.

Then, there's DBU's fantastic "Burn Unit"...

And Doc's "Daisy Duke"...

Yeah, they always look great to me, too, and it's not a terribly expensive option.
