Building the Imperfect Beast. Otherwise known as the Gable Jazzblaster.

Well, for all future references, here are the two Motherload Sources of online schematics:

Much duplication, many different templates of the "same" guitar, no warrantees implied....

Not too strangely*, I am slowly, slowly working on a Walnut-bodied "Jaguar" to be armed with the 24-fret "Warhead" neck(s). Warmoth couldn't cut me the bod I wanted exactly, they've reduced the number of options for Mustangs and Jags, so I found a guy who used to cut bodies for many of Texas's "private luthier" types, he's now semi-retired to Kentucky and he's tearing his way through the backyard....

I took a regular-quality, Nicholson 4-in-hand rasp to it to try to deepen the treble cutaway (24 frets...) and it just bounced off and laughed at me. Same thing with a Surform rasp.... some kind of MEAN old-growth Appalachian walnut root thing, god knows what it does to the saws at a mill. It's harder than any sugar maple I've ever messed with, but about 1/3 lighter too - I have high hopes for it's tonal mood swings. Needless to say, my plans got more convoluted...

*(A very large number of the custom-custom guys like "Fano" and that $10,000 Eyetalian thing are copping the Jag/Jazzmaster shape - whattayagonnado - make another Strat? :icon_tongue:)

Yes Walnut isn't the most user friendly wood around that's for sure. May I suggest a bandsaw and router for your alterations?

Oh I GOT it alright, just had to get mean back. There's nothing can stand up to 50-grit 3M wet-dry sandpaper and large caffeine overdoses, including delrin and stainless steel.  :cool01:

Thanks StübHead I could have used these a few months ago. They are bookmarked now though!

OK can anyone tell me why all of my pics look like thumbnail attachments? What am I doing wrong here?

When you upload them to Warmoth's server, it automatically resizes them to thumbnails and attaches a link to the full-size image. Cuts down on unnecessary bandwidth usage. If you click on one of those images, it'll blow up to original size.

If you want to display them full-size to begin with, you'll have to stash them on an outside server and link to them with
url] like that, some (like me) use their own server space, etc. Whatever works for you.

Here is a video I made the first day I had it to the point of being able to plug and play.
Still hadn't done the black burst. I recorded it on an ipad so the audio isn't great but you can get a hint of the way the pickups sound anyway.
