Bridge position question for anyone with a 25" sclae 7-string Warmoth

I had to reposition the Kahler a couple mm further back from dead-center on the saddle travel. And on 7string.org, someone clearly ran out of room on the Takeuchi Floyd to intonate his low-B.

So, I just ordered a another 7-string body, this time with a Floyd rout. I'm thinking I should ask them to make it 2 or 3mm further back than they normally do.

Think that's a good idea? Anyone else with this issue?

Some seven string bridges cut it awful close, in my opinion. Your high E is usually only going to be about 1/16" over the scale length, while the 7th string can be as much as 3/8" over the scale length. I had one of the "good" Ibanez  RG's from Japan, and it just didn't have enough room down low. I now have a Schecter hardtail and another with a tunematic that just barely make it. I wanted a two-point floating whammy on my Warmoth flat seven, but Warmoth only routes for the Floyd. So I had them route the spring slot only, then cut the slot through the body and sunk the posts myself. I remember agonizing over the post holes, but it worked out.

From hanging out at the seven string forum, I did gather that some Floyds have more travel than others. If you have the whole bridge mounted that far back, it may be impossible to get the high E string short enough. There's a Warmoth employee here named tonyflyingsquirrel who I seem to remember has put together several sevens:

It's certainly worth it to contact Warmoth and see what they have to say. I used to get really, really mad at that Ibanez.... :o
