Brian May pickups and wiring question(s)

If you want all four coils in parallel, its going to work fine and be simple to wire .
But yeah, having any of them in series will make it more complicated (maybe some 4P3T switches can achieve that?).

"Off" for either one of the series-wired humbuckers will kill both coils, right - unless you do some fancy trick where 'off' just grounds out the bottom of the first one in series...

I had read something I cannot find again recently, maybe from Fralin pickups about a mod to the pickup that separates the ground from the pickup frame. Something I think was said Fender does on certain pickups. Do you know about this? Would this separate the two pickups? I was thinking that was their point.

Someone did this with EMG SA pickups once and the whole system was dead quiet.

Of the Brian May guitars that I’ve played, each of them have an unbearable noisy hum in one of the switch combinations, which is not unlikely as they are all passive single coils.
