Blue Burst vs Blue Dye misconception?

Don't go by what the showcase has or what they call it.  I could go through there right now and find a list of stuff for sale that you can't spec for a scratch build.  It's just there and for sale.  You will make yourself crazy.

Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a round room and told me to sit in the corner. The corner? I couldn't find a corner. That bugged me. Bugs? I hate bugs! They drive me crazy! Crazy? I was crazy once...

A lot of the 'blue bursts' that show up in the Showcase look like transparent turquoise with a huge black burst over, but the examples they always give for blue bursts in the body builder and finishes page are like the Les Paul there ^^. I so rarely see that sort of finish turn up in the Showcase though, it's always the odd aqua-black one. Wish they'd make up their mind about which it is, or specify them as different finishes. I love the light turquoise-blue burst, hate the black one. I'd be pissed if I ordered a body thinking it would be a nice bright green/blue combination, as the body builder suggests it is, and what I got was sludge green/black.

EXACTLY. I love the Les Paul there and the one in your signature. That's what I'd expect if I ordered a Blue Burst. It could be that it depends on the choice of the back finish too.

I think I'll email Warmoth and ask them. They tend to answer pretty quickly and be really nice. I'll post here what they tell me.

I can see where some confusion may come in, but seeing more examples, you learn the differences between a dye and a burst, as well as options like black burstovers.  If you're not ordering a finished showcase body, it's best to call in an order so a person understands through a conversation what you actually want.  If they didn't offer variations of similar items, the other side of the argument would be, "I can't believe they only offer one kind of burst."

+1 on talking to them on the phone.  They're pretty good about getting you exactly what you want.

I would love to be able to phone in every order, I'd probably have lost much more money to Warmoth than I have so far, but living in another country rather rules that out for myself. Warmoth's open hours are precisely when I'm in bed dreaming of the next build...

Sounds weak. Can't take 5 minutes out when you get up to piss to save money on an expensive part? Leave yourself a Post-It note on the toilet.

Or just an email correspondence.  It's cheaper and more convenient than an international call, but communicates better than the notes section of the online builder.

Include a pic in your email as an example to show the color you want for the body. That's what I did, the result was great.
