Black korina VIP

That's a gorgeous piece of work, and I'm envious. Yeah, I'm going to hell. No problem. It's worth it.

Do you know how much it weighs?

According to my totally scientific measurement system (weighing myself, then weighing myself again with the guitar strapped to my chest) it's about 8.4 pounds.  I was a little concerned about neck dive because the Schallers are a bit heavy, but it actually balances very well.  It's chambered, too, which helps with the weight.  It feels marginally heavier than my Strat, but not by too much.

Thanks for all the positive comments, everybody!

Absolutely beautiful guitar.  Congrats.    Gotta say, the Strat headstock looks REALLY nice.  Pretty much everyone does the Warmoth style with the VIP, but with the same body and neck wood it matches perfectly.

Great stuff.

That's not so bad, but it's amazing what a pound adds up to after a while. As for the neck dive... one of these days when I'm bored out of my mind and need to re-string, I'm going to pull the Grovers off my Les Paul and weigh them against a set of Schallers. I'll bet there isn't but an ounce or two of difference between them. Bass tuners I can see being an issue because there can be some real mass involved, but on a guitar? I don't know why people worry about them.

When I was looking at tuners for my tele with a Pau Ferro neck, I was a little worried about neck dive.  For a set I saw weights between 5.5oz and 11oz (though the 11 was for a 3-3 set, and the 6-in-line set somehow was only 8.5)

I'd seriously question that much variance on the Planet Waves parts. As for the Gotohs, the "vintage" parts are just junk. I'm not surprised they don't weigh anything. I've got beer cans around here with more structural/mechanical integrity. Why they still make those things is a mystery for the ages. The only thing I can figure is there are a lot of players who either can't tell if a guitar is in tune or are willing to spend hours getting it there and want their fiddle to resemble their hero's ancient piece of...stuff.
