And again mark- I don't disagree or begrudge that, your attitude is quite reasonable. I simply object to triumphalism and a complete lack of awareness of history, and unfortunately there's been a bit of that on this thread.

Yeah, someone smarter than me once said (and I probably paraphrase): "two things in life are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe."  It's nearly impossible for anyone to be reasonable about this, because nothing about it has been reasonable.  I think we should all cut each other a little slack and accept that we're surely all wrong in the end.

Also, this is the internet, so none of you are real.

Saying "I told you so" doesn't really make sense here. You told him the thread was going to go off topic, then YOU took it off topic. Just let people be happy that the world is rid of a mass murderer. Stop trying to downplay the whole damn thing. There's no American triumphalism, it's something the whole damn world should be happy about. Pretty much anywhere you live in the world today your life (or that of somebody that you know) has been adversely affected by this man.

If you REALLY want to be anal and get upset about certain threads not deserving to be on the forum then there are much better examples than one about a mass murderer being brought to justice. So stop posting in the damn thing it or warm up to the idea that this was a huge event for everybody in the world.

Ya know, I prefer to think highly of everyone "participating" in this thread, and it just absolutely disappoints me how quickly the subject of politics can usurp every measurable ounce of intelligence out of almost each and every one of you.  We're all good buddies until the subject of politics rears its ugly head, right?  :icon_scratch:

The only other thread on this entire forum that I've nearly the same level of bickering and immaturity take over is in the "Guitar of the Month" thread.  I'm still scratching my head as to why these two subjects always seem to bring out the worst in people.  :icon_scratch:

umm, hate to bring this up, but I don't think he's been actively in charge of AQ for quite some time now. Which begs the question, why were we still hunting him (besides to make ourselves feel good)? No offense to anyone, and no downplaying of 9/11, but at this point in time, things have soo moved on in terms of the individual person of Osama. I don't see how it makes a difference dead or alive, other than to giv the prez something to brag about.

No offense to anyone, and no downplaying of 9/11, but at this point in time, things have soo moved on in terms of the individual person of Osama.
