That color difference and pattern makes me think "Buck Owens!" But yeah, it's not everyone's thing (not really mine either).

Thanks guys!  Yeah, unfortunately the color difference is there because that's the wood we had in the shop.  I can live with it though, this is just a fun learning project. 

We're going to order a neck.  I'm thinking roasted maple and rosewood, nothing super fancy.

I think Rosewood over Roasted Maple is an excellent choice for that guitar. Don't have to finish it, it'll burnish up nicely, sound great... what's not to love?

Alright, the neck and most of the body hardware has been ordered.  I went with a roasted maple/rosewood combo, nothing super fancy.  I did get SS frets though because I love those and I'm going to try an SRV contour this time.
