Bass build ideas

Damn never knew 4 vs 5 vs 6 string bass would be as controversial as I noting effective live useage of MBCs. LOL
Anyways, have had the chance to play a 5 string Dingwall Afterburner as well as a 6 string Custom Dingwall Afterburner II.
99% certain it will be a 5. Actually I would consider a 4, but I really kinda want to build a Gecko.

nah, 4/5/6 stuff isn't really controversial from my seat. I'm fine with people choosing whatever they want. I was more ticked at the attitude that bass guitars should play high notes. I've come across players like that way too often, and I think it's just some form of insecurity seeping through. but either way, if I was a guitar player, I'd totally look into building a Bass 6. that would be neat as hell. Gecko's look nice, though.

I think perhaps you inadvertently poked a sensitive spot for bass players who've had a few too many people try to tell them what they should or shouldn't be playing.

If you're not a bass player by trade you might not understand, but most of us came up having to deal with 800 mediocre (or worse) guitarists who wanted us to pedal on our open E and A strings continually while they soloed endlessly (and badly). :sad1:

I can certainly respect your frustration on that issue, and I for one would never disrespect bass players like that.
It's not an easy instrument to play, and if it were, everyone would be doing it.
