Barracuda Begins

LOL @ Axkoa - no kidding right?  Looks like a 256 conductor pickup.  :laughing7:

WAY cool axe though, FP!  Really clean work on that bridge.

Only 11 months since the last post. Ho hum. Things have been... less conducive to guitar building following a home move. Anyway, having stupidly said I would enter GOTM this month, I thought I'd better make the effort and show some evidence that I have actually completed it.

Want wires? Got wires.

I have a bad habit of cutting wires too short so I've gone the other way and left all the Graph Tech wires as they came. I may tidy them up a bit anon, but for now they're just stuffed in. Likewise, the battery is just attached to the back of the cover which, at some point I'll probably cut a hole in for a box. It all actually works as is though, so I might just play the thing and not worry about it.

Headstock plate glued on. The way the edge refracts (or something) makes it look a bit untidy in the photo - it doesn't really appear that way, honest!

Subtler branding (no outlining) on the scratchplate and backplate.

Tuners installed. Not much of a job with the Hipshot 'universal mounting plate' - just a bit of filing due to Warmoth's close hole spacing. I know a lot of people don't like these plates but they look fine to me and save drilling all those nasty little holes in a straight line.

Justification for the build - had these black Schaller strap buttons from my old bass that I dismembered recently. Feel that 1980s mojo.

Last, and by no means least, DR6 plate installed.

Very, very cool. I too like the Hipshot plates. Excellent invention in my opinion. Got them on my Fender Super-Sonic.

I thought he said it was a Dragon Burst, but now I can't find the reference.

Cool looking axe Bro, congrats on your finally completed toy!

I think Hipshot UPM's are the best thing since sliced bread! Even if you don't leave them on your guitar, (like I did on my Hagstrom to avoid drilling a 50 year old neck), they make a great set up tool. Install them loosely with the tuners and mark them where the anti-rotation holes are. Disassemble, and drill oversized holes in the plates where they are marked. Reassemble, and you can now drill perfectly aligned screw holes in the headstock!  :icon_thumright:

He has it in his description over on the GOM entry thread.

Congrats Pete. Nice job. Slicked in at the last minute, too. :icon_thumright:
