B.O. Tele - Buck Owens not Body Odor

I did a few things today.  Ferrule install went smooth with the ol' soldering iron trick.

I went ahead and did, some might say unnecessary, threaded inserts on the control cavity.  At $1.15 for 2, buy twice as many as you need because they are small and break easily, even with the largest bore possible.

the threaded inserts look great! scared me at first though because all i saw browsing the pictures was a flat screw. i figured something had broken off somewhere!

and the flame on the top of that thing is crazy...

Gold Electrosocket, which really just looks like brass.

Gold Schaller Strap Locks.  Also, dig the ply/stripes in the Ivoroid binding.

Going to experiment with shielding.  My plan is to run the bridge ground with the pickup leads and attach a crimp-on eyelet between the pickup mounting springs and baseplate.  This will satisfy grounding the bridge.  The shielding tape will go from the bridge to the tape in the pickup cavity.  Going to double check continuity between the muliple pieces of tape.

I think I'm going to do this on all of my non-chambered, pickguarded Ws in the future.

:hello2:

that will totally look great on this guitar.

American Standard Tuners.  There's a long story about these.  These are supposed to be staggered, but aren't.  It says so in the description on the Fender site and where I ordered them from.  I also had confirmation from the salesman.  Long story short, I decided not to return them because I would be out 15 to 30% for a restock fee through no fault of my own, plus return shipping, and would also be returning the pin-centering tool I bought from StewMac which would probably also have a restock fee plus return shipping.  That's why there's an extra, unused mounting hole on the back of the headstock.  Knowing what I know now, I would've just ordered a gold version of the tuners that were on there (Gotoh Mini).  They worked fine with no stagger and no string tee.

I too am a horrible person.

I sure hope so.  I've got it in the garage right now drying between clearcoats to keep the machined areas from rusting.  I got special treatment.  I'm probably one of the few that has gotten an R6 neckplate from R6, delivered on an R6.

Now, I thought that Am Standards were staggered, My 2003 has staggered in the first 2 keys. I would love to know about that.

xD it just seems like it really matches the aesthetics of this guitar. kinda New Vintage.

I can not wait till I do my build. I hope I get "Hand confident" soon.  this left?...Right?...Left? thing is driving me nuts.

I wont build or buy myself a really nice guitar till I'm sure I'm sticking with THAT hand.

as for the tuner hole. if it was me I would fill it, then paint a very minimal design under where the Tuners sit. in metallic gold paint.

Just me, though.

Nah.  There's details and there's details.  I was prepared for those holes even when I thought I was getting the right tuners.  Most headstocks that have had a tuner change have those scars.  I sweated details like this before only to be the only one that ever noticed.  I can live with this, but a crooked pickup ring or something like that I'd fix.

gives the guitar a modded look

and everywhere I look on the web those tuners are staggered, what gives?

IDK.  The drive thru can't even get my order right.  I don't know why I expected this to go right.  Anywho, that's the only setback.  Enough negativity, this thing is gonna RAWK!  (or atleast chicken pick)

You can also see there is a thin, probably Walnut, strip separating the 3 pieces of Maple.  It's so thin it's probably there to keep the dyes from running to the center.

Love the birds, I did a birds neck on a Strat replacement neck from the big W years ago, I was impressed with the neck, that is why when I started this build idea I decided to go with Warmoth.  When the body comes in I will be jonesing for a neck, love the Logo you got. I have a guy I played with on Friday night who owns Mollenhauer guitar
http://www.mollenhauerguitars.com/page/page/4989562.htm anyway, he wants to get a hold of the body and finish it for me,  That is really a nice offer, I play his showroom stuff and can tell you he makes a great axe, So now I am torn, I really want to do it all myself, but being my first project, well.........
Then I see work like this one and I want to be the one who can proudly say, "I made that".
This project is just tooo Tasty for words.
Next we have to get you some Wagonmaster wear.

I love the Birds, want to go Bloodwood, but I love the birds.
I am thinking a Hollow L5 with a trapeze next, so I just may end up with an exotic, I can get away with it on the L5

You're not even sure your right or left handed.... :icon_scratch:

Oh, I am SEVERELY LEFT HANDED, But as I am entirely unskilled and barely practiced on guitar, I have decided to try REALLY HARD to play right handed one last time.

before i sink into the black Strat Abyss that is the lefty lack of choices.
